The 2021 - 2022 Greater Burlington Leadership Class Group Project- “Greater Burlington Murals”: Embracing the past while painting our future

The 2021-22 Greater Burlington Leadership class is happy to announce their group project “Greater Burlington Murals: Embracing the past while painting our future”.

The Burlington Leadership class is a professional development series geared towards individuals who want to strengthen their leadership skills within the community. The program offers experienced leaders and young professionals broader understanding of civic leadership responsibilities and opportunities through hands-on activities with various local institutions and those who shape our community.

Each year the class is tasked with creating a group project that will benefit the community.

This year the Leadership class has raised over $12,000 for the completion of a mural to welcome visitors to Burlington as their project. The project will be completed by local muralist Craig Jacoba. Craig's work can be seen at the pediatric unit at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center, CNH and the YMCA.

“Public art helps bring culture and a vibrant welcome to the community. We are excited to have the opportunity to give this as a gift to our community and to have it be the backdrop for our visitors to take pictures while they are adventuring through Greater Burlington.”, Amy Moyner, 2021-2022 Greater Burlington Leadership Class Participant

This art will be a catalyst for more art in the community and an attraction to welcome tourists into Greater Burlington.

Unveiling and ribbon cutting for this mural will be on May 16, at 4:30 PM on the 400 block of N Main, wall of Jennison Building (Drake overflow parking lot). The Ribbon Cutting is open to the public.

The leadership class wants to thank our Premier Patron, Patrons, and Sponsors for making this art possible. Premier Patron Great Western Bank, will be unveiling the mural at the Ribbon Cutting.
