West Burlington Goes All Out For the Fourth
Published on July 4, 2022

Partnership + community = big fun, small-town style

Greater Burlington offers opportunities galore to celebrate this Fourth of July, and soon the night sky will explode with commemorative colors from Crapo Park to Community Field and beyond.

But if you're looking for a dedicated, day-long celebration of independence, look no farther than the little town of West Burlington.

For nearly 20 years, West Burlington has hosted what has become one of the area's largest and most comprehensive celebrations of American independence. The West Burlington Fourth of July Celebration has grown each year since its inception in 2004, and this year is no exception. From breakfast to bedtime, this event is packed with fun for the whole family.

Event Chairman and West Burlington City Council member Andy Crowner has had a front-row seat to watch  the celebration evolve. Taking over from his dad in 2019, Crowner has steered the event through some tough times.

"My Father, Rod Crowner, was the chairman of the event through 2019 when I took over during the COVID year," Crowner said. "Through the years the celebration has continued to grow and evolve, adding new fun things each year - and a few surprises along the way.

"This will be our second year of the new bags tournament and our Fire Department has added water fights for the kids this year after breakfast. Inflatable jump houses are back again this year, with three great bands, and of course a huge fireworks show. It's really a full day of fun. I'm also proud that the event has turned into a major fundraiser for many local clubs and organizations."
