I can understand how visiting new places can be a little more expensive than you’d like it to be. This is why I’m here to tell you about three places you can visit for free in Downtown Burlington.
The Welcome Center is a great place to start. The Center has all of the information you need to know about Burlington. There are tons of pamphlets about things to do and places to see in the area, and in surrounding areas. There is also information about the history of Burlington including the Burlington timeline, the history of the rail system in Burlington, the Burlington mural, which was done by local artist David Garrsion, and there are also books about Chief Black Hawk, who was a leader of tribes in the area. Of course there is also a large array of Burlington merchandise to take home with you.
Another good stop is the Burlington Public Library. This library is huge and offers so much. There’s free Wi-Fi and computers. The children’s area is full of interactive activities like the play area, an animal x-ray machine, tablets, computers, LED touch lights, and games. There are also multiple art pieces spread throughout the library, and the library’s architecture itself is art. Of course there are tons of books of all genres. Don’t forget to grab one of their monthly newsletters on the customer service desk to see what events and activities they have each month.
The final stop on today's list is the Burlington Art Center. The Art Center’s gallery is always free to go into and there are new exhibits each month. They also hold a lot of events like gallery openings with wine and fancy snacks. You can buy pieces from the gallery, or from the store area of the center which has paintings, drawings, prints, pottery, jewelry, or any other form of art. You can also take classes at the Art Center, but you do have to pay to register.
