So Many Shopping Options!! - By Addison Brown

Downtown is a treasure trove!

Whether you’re shopping for a birthday, anniversary, holiday, or just yourself; you are guaranteed to find the perfect items in downtown Burlington. There is a wide variety of stores on Jefferson’s Street ranging from antiques to modern day items.

The first store I’d like to highlight is Weird Harolds. With over 60,000 new and used records, this record store is one of the largest in Iowa. Not only do they sell records, but they also sell CD’s, DVD’s, record players, posters, t-shirts and much more. If you’re not looking for music, the store also has a paint your own pottery studio where you can purchase premade pottery and paint it any way you’d like! This store was also recently featured on a new PBS series about things you can do if you’re traveling along the Mississippi river. The series is set to come out in spring of 2024.

When it comes to fashion, there are multiple stores and boutiques to choose from. Recently celebrating 20 years of business is Original Cyns. This store offers fashion for teenagers – young adults and it’s even connected to a store that sells baby clothes. The aesthetic of the store is farmhouse/boho chic, and it also features Iowa Hawkeye merchandise and sportswear.

If you want a trip down memory lane, head to Burlington Vintage. This store has an entire room dedicated to vintage toys that still work! There is also vintage furniture, but they do sell modern day items as well.

I believe downtown is a place to find truly unique gifts. I make it a priority to do some Christmas shopping downtown every year, because I know I’ll be able to find one-of-a-kind items for the one-of-a-kind people in my life.
