2024 Annual Report's opening letter from Amy O'Brien, President & CEO of the Greater Burlington Partnership:
As we review 2024, we can reflect on a year filled with collaboration, innovation, and measurable progress—all in the midst of leadership transitions and hosting the final “dip” of RAGBRAI at our Port of Burlington. Our internal team, along with so many of you,
worked tirelessly to make Greater Burlington shine as a premier tourist destination. This Annual Report captures the collective impact of these efforts, and I invite you to explore the pages that detail our many accomplishments.
From workforce development to fostering talent attraction, we have prioritized addressing the challenges and opportunities that shape our community. The difficulties endured during the construction period of the TIGER project are now in the past, and our Downtown has been transformed into something we can all be proud of. The energy of our Downtown can be summed up in two words: It’s Happening! With eight new businesses opening their doors in 2024, we anticipate even more growth and vibrancy in the coming years.
By focusing on enhancing regional collaboration and investing in education, we are laying the groundwork for long-term economic growth and sustainability. One of our greatest strengths lies in the partnerships we cultivate. Together with local businesses, city governments, and regional organizations, we have championed initiatives that drive innovation and investment while advocating for strategic funding and policies that benefit our community.
We played an important role in securing an Amazon Last Mile facility to locate in our Flint Ridge Business Park. Amazon added 110 jobs and capital investment of over $16 Million. Several of our businesses expanded which equated to over 175 new jobs and over $70 Million in private capital investment. WOW!
As we look to 2025 and beyond, the Greater Burlington Partnership remains steadfast in its mission to be a catalyst for positive change. With your continued support, we will forge ahead, working tirelessly to achieve our shared vision of a vibrant, prosperous region where businesses thrive, families flourish, and visitors are inspired.
