Mark Twain Zephyr Book Signing
July 17, 2021, 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Many Burlingtonians remember riding the Mark Twain Zephyr on the Burlington Route between Burlington and St. Louis and Hannibal, Missouri. The sleek silver passenger train rode the rails under the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy RR banner from 1935 to 1958.
Now the iconic 5-car train set is being restored to its former glory as part of the Wisconsin Great Northern Railroad. To promote the restoration, WGNRR director of passenger development Robert Tabern will be signing copies of the series of books he and his wife, Kandace, have written about the project: Mark Twain Zephyr: History, Restoration & Rebirth.
Stop in Burlington By the Book to meet the author, get the signed books, reminisce about riding the Zephyr or learn more about this truly dynamic part of Burlington's rail history.
