Genealogy/Local History Lock-In

Unearth the real people behind the skeletons in your family closet, give names to those ghosts in the attic of your historic home - or just learn how to collect and organize your family's genealogical information for future generations. Your library is here to help! The genealogy/local history lock-in is a special evening set aside just for history and research buffs - whether you're new to exploring the past or a veteran researcher, you're sure to find new pieces in whatever puzzle you're working.
Staff and volunteer researchers and historians will be on hand to help you explore the library's special collections, learn how to use microfilm collections to access over 100 years' of local newspapers and other archives, make the most of the library's free access to online collections and much more.
Refreshments will be provided.
Call the library at 319-753-1647 Ext 113 to register and save your spot today - during the Lock-In, the library will be closed to the public but open to participants, who may come and leave at whatever times are convenient during the 3-hour event.
