What is the most effective strategy to keep nutrient runoff (mainly nitrogen and phosphorus) out of our lakes, rivers, and streams? Francis Thicke, PhD soil scientist, organic dairy farmer and owner of Radiance Dairy in Fairfield, Iowa, will present an overview of INRS (Iowa’s Nutrient Reduction Strategy) and why parts of it are successful but counter-intuitive and therefore not well understood. This should be of great interest to farmers and anyone interested in Iowa's water quality. Presented by the Sierra Club of Southeast Iowa (Leopold Group).
