Division Goals and Accomplishments

There’s always room for growth, no matter how successful someone or some place is. As a community, we strive to hit our yearly goals, and we are on great track for 2022.

 

Chamber of Commerce Goals

Lead COVID-19 economic recovery efforts.
Expand innovative strategies with the consumer marketing campaign.
Launch new website with enhanced member benefit features.
Convene Housing Incentives Task Force with recommendations to Cities of Burlington and West Burlington submitted by fall 2021.

 

Convention and Visitors Bureau Goals

Continue to fine tune operations of the retail experience at the Port of Burlington Welcome Center.
Develop virtual tours of area attractions to increase exposure during COVID-19.
Take an in-depth look at the annual community guide and production process to enhance the publication and increase advertising sales.
Partner with riverboat companies to host safe dockings during the cruising season.

 

Downtown Partners Goals

Aggressively market the 300 Washington building for redevelopment.
Aid in Shop Local campaigns to spark economic stimulus in Downtown shopping, dining, and entertainment district amid COVID-19 restrictions.
Work with City and stakeholders on design guidelines for a potential Downtown overlay district.
Strategize communications and promotions to encourage consumer traffic during TIGER Grant project.
Work with Economic Vitality Committee to promote property redevelopment in Downtown and encourage entrepreneurship in open spaces.

 

Economic Development Goals

Continue implementing elements of the Transforming the Talent Pipeline strategy.
Realize meaningful Pre-Apprenticeships with High School students into our manufacturing and construction businesses.
See at least 10 High School students participate in Signing Day events for local employment via local education.
Accomplish the sale, transfer and reactivation of the 42,000 sq. ft. Raider facility.
Secure RISE funds to see new public road installed in West Burlington Industrial Park.
Work with regional partners to secure attraction projects with a goal of at least 50+ created jobs, and capital investment of $300M.
Seek BNSF Certified Site status and re-use of former Burlington Northern Shops facilities.
Obtain legislative approval to make permanent the 50 -year lease option at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant through the ARMS Program.
