September 11th, Remembrance Ceremony

A remembrance ceremony will be held on Sunday, September 11th, at the Burlington Fire Department in recognition of 15 years having passed since the 9/11 attacks. The ceremony will feature ringing of the station and town church bells, a moment of silence, and reading the names of fire and police responders who perished that day.
Area fire departments, law enforcement, first responders and EMS personnel will be in attendance. On September 11th, 2001, 2996 people died, including the 343 fire fighters from the Fire Department of New York and 71 law enforcement officers from the New York and Port Authority Police Departments. All 265 souls aboard the four hijacked fights and 125 citizens and soldiers at The Pentagon died as well.
An American flag will be suspended between the West Burlington and Burlington Fire Department aerial ladder trucks for the remembrance. The public is invited to attend.
