Getting More Help

Small Business Development Center - offers businesses assistance with loan packaging and financial projections; business plan writing; and business counseling programs.
Great River Biz - is an online source for research and information to support area entrepreneurism.
MyEntre.net - access to topical webinars, business research on demand, and much more.
Business License Information Center - find Iowa business license and compliance requirements.
Innovation Support Program - provides assistance with technology transfer, research, proof of commercial relevance and access to financial assistance.
Business Financing
Contrary to popular belief very few grants are available to start a new business. Although some assistance does exist, no program will finance 100% of a start-up. Personal equity is almost always required and a solid business plan is absolutely essential. Your local banker is still the best place to turn for financing.
There are, however, a few programs available:
Iowa’s Targeted Small Business Program
Southeast Iowa Regional Planning Commission’s Revolving Loan Program
