YP of the Month - Alicia Pence
Employer: Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center
Hometown: Stronghurst, IL
YP Member: 1 year
Why did you join YP? I wanted to connect with other young leaders in order to build connections and friendships. I hope our generation will be an agent of change in our community.
Which community organizations do you volunteer for?
I am the Board Clerk for Family Outreach Community Center, a Henderson County nonprofit organization that I co-founded in 2010. I am also a supporter and team captain for Relay for Life and help organize youth programs at my hometown church. I’m also a Highway 34 Coalition advocate.
What do you enjoy most about the area?
People in our area are friendly and smile at each other often. It's a common thing to chat with a stranger in line or to see a stranger help someone in need.
Unique about me:
In 2010, during my senior year at Monmouth
College, a friend and I co-founded a nonprofit organization to serve families in need in Henderson County, IL. Since then, Family Outreach Community Center (FOCC) has served over 1,600 residents with our nutrition, career, and family assistance programs.
