What Is Greater Burlington Leadership?

Enhance Your Leadership Skills and Knowledge

The Chamber of Commerce is pleased to present Greater Burlington Leadership. This professional development series is geared towards individuals who want to strengthen their leadership skillset, community knowledge and connections.

The 9-month program is designed to offer a broader understanding of civic leadership responsibilities and unique opportunities in the Greater Burlington area.

Participants are selected each year by a volunteer committee on the basis of a written application, including essay questions and letter of recommendation. The submitted items are the sole source of information used to in the class selection process. Acceptance into Greater Burlington Leadership is not guaranteed. Applicants are encouraged to apply again if they are not accepted the first time.

To apply or nominate an applicant, click the appropriate link below. Applications are accepted year-round but must be received by June 30 to be eligible for the next year's class.

Time commitment: Greater Burlington Leadership is a balanced combination of 9-monthly program sessions and a group project. Attendance at each monthly session is required. Both the participant and employer will be asked to sign off on a commitment acknowledging understanding of the attendance policy prior to participation.

Group project: Time devoted to the group project is outside of the monthly program sessions and will vary depending on the project chosen by the class. On occasion, some class time may be set aside for group project work but is not guaranteed. Many classes choose to meet over lunch, Zoom or in the evening when working on their projects. Group projects must be completed within the same time frame as the class.

Program cost: Tuition for Greater Burlington Leadership is $995 for Chamber of Commerce members or $1,445 for non-members, paid prior to the opening session and is non-refundable. Tuition covers all session costs, lunches and graduation. Additional expenses for the Government Affairs session in Des Moines will be required and include travel to Des Moines, overnight stay and additional meals.

Greater Burlington Leadership is a program of the Chamber of Commerce, a division of the Greater Burlington Partnership.
