Steve Frevert became the Executive Director of Downtown Partners, Burlington’s Main Street program, in 2008. He received his bachelor’s degree in English from Beloit College in Beloit, Wisconsin. Along with writing for several newspapers, Steve managed several small retail businesses and devoted volunteer time to historic preservation work. When Steve, his wife Rhonda, and their twin daughters moved to Burlington from Chicago, his schedule as a stay-at-home father was flexible enough to get involved with a number of local groups. He volunteered for Downtown Partners for five years before joining the staff.
"From the first time I saw Burlington, I was impressed by its wealth of historic architecture,” says Steve. “We have a variety and quality of buildings unequalled in a city our size. I’m fortunate to be able to work with passionate stakeholders towards the revitalization of our remarkable downtown.”
Steve guides the work of Downtown Partners in preserving and revitalizing downtown Burlington by fostering cooperation, business and building development, design and appearance enhancements, and promotions and events. In addition to his position with the Greater Burlington Partnership, he currently chairs Burlington’s Historic Preservation Commission and sits on the boards of the Capitol Theater Foundation and the Heritage Trust.
